Division One 2019/20 Season

Div 1 19/20

Meredith Road Baptist Church FC were crowned the Coventry & District Church Football League Division One champions in a season that was cut short by Covid-19. It was decided by league officials that the season would not be played out and the teams would have their finishing positions determined by an average points per game system.

AFC Hope failed to defend their title and were disappointed by the early termination of the season, as their run of form pointed toward a possible back to back title challenge. BEC and CLM cemented their position in the top division, while Coventrians hadn't played enough games due to the short season for us to really say where they might have ended!

Lowfors and Athletico Mosaic FC were relegated to the second division after their poor form in the 2019/20 season. Both teams were hopeful of regrouping in the second division during the following season and bouncing straight back up to contend in division one for the 2021/22 season!

Division Two 2019/20 Season

Meanwhile in Division Two, recently relegated St John Fisher put on a show as they went unbeaten in the 2019/20 season to bounce straight back up to the top division. Joining them for promotion were Elim and Arypt (who improved hugely on their previous two seasons performances) both serial winners of division titles over the years (seriously, go check out their trophies!).

HERC Saints also had a strong performance, losing just one game but missing out on promotion on account of their points lost in draws. Recently relegated Wanderers struggled but showed moments of brilliance as they secured a mid-table finish, with 2018/19 cup finalists Christ the King, and newcomers to the league St John Fisher 2 rounding out the table.

In only their second season in the Coventry & District Church Football League, AFC Hope grew on their previous season's second place finish by going the entire 2018/19 campaign losing only one game in their near-unstoppable charge to their first trophy for the cabinet.

Regulars to the top end of the division one table BEC and Meredith followed up in second and third place respectively whilst Lowfers secured another respectable position, finishing fourth this time out.

Previous back-to-back league champions Athletico Mosaic slipped down the table to fifth place but securing enough points to safely stay away from the relegation zone.

Wanderers and St John Fisher both struggled in a season that saw them only picking up the one win each, before being relegated to the second division.

Division Two 18/19 Season

Div 2 18/19

CLM surprised many (but not all) when they won the Coventry & District Church Football League's second division at their first time of trying; but it was a nail-biting finish to the season as Coventrians FC (also in their inaugural season in the C&DCFL)  drew level with CLM on points, the latter only taking the title thanks to their higher goal difference! Both won promotion to the top division in their first seasons in the league.

Christ the King, also joining the league for the first time had a strong start to life in the league with a respectable 3rd place, while long-standing teams Holy Trinity and Elim rounded out the top 5. (Sadly this would be Holy Trinity's last season in the league, with the club folding at the end of the season).

HERC Saints had a tougher run this season, finishing the season with 6 points in 6th place whilst multiple division one winners Arypt finished bottom of the league for the second season running in a season which saw them concede an average of 4 points per game.

League Table 2017/18 Season

Table 17/18

The 2017/18 season was the last season in which the league took place in one division as the following year more new teams joining meant an expansion to two divisions!

Athletico Mosaic managed to defend their title becoming only the second team in the league's history to do so, seeing off close competition in the form of newcomers AFC Hope. Meredith rounded out the top three finishing just 3 points behind Hope in 2nd. BEC and Lowfors rounded out the top 5, both finishing on 19 points, with the formers superior goal difference securing them the 4th place spot.

HERC Saints, Wanderers and first timers St John Fisher finished in 6th, 7th and 8th place respectively, securing their places in what would become Division One the following season with Holy Trinity, Elim and Arypt narrowly missing out and ending the season facing a new challenge in Division Two the following year.

(Note, after having to fold regroup, HERC Saints were placed into Division Two the following season despite their 6th place finish).

Athletico Mosaic surprised many with their first league title which saw them beat Meredith 1-0 in a title deciding game to end the season. HERC Saints secured another high table finish, ending just 1 point behind Meredith in 3rd place. Affinity came 4th in what would be their last season as a team and were only 2 points away from a 2nd place finish.

Lowfors placed a respectable 5th place with Arypt slipping further down the table into 6th. BEC and St Johns rounded out the mid table finishers with  Holy Trinity, Elim and one timers Genesis rounding out the table.
